Name & Shame: Sophos Home: The Software That Now Floods You with Ads on Your Desktop

Sophos Home: Free commercial-grade security for the home
Six years ago, I made a post here talking about Sophos Home, a then-new free antivirus product from Sophos, a company traditionally known for its enterprise security products. I have been an active user of Sophos Home ever since that post, even going as far as to recommend it to friends and entrusting Sophos to protect my family's PCs.

Times have changed, and Sophos Home has had a real falling of grace since it launched. Recently, I ran into the straw that broke the camel's back: ads on your desktop. I no longer recommend that anyone use Sophos Home, and I have uninstalled it on all of my PCs.

A Full Decade of Techman's World! 🎂🎉

Even though I don't post a lot, following annual tradition I'd like to announce that this site is now a whopping 10 years old! A whole decade! I can remember the birth of this place like it happened yesterday...I was awake around 1:22 AM fooling around on the internet on how to make my own blog/website, and I eventually started Techman's World on the Blogger platform. That said, every 18th of December adds another notch to the metaphorical rope that is the life of Techman's World.

Bungie, Are You Listening to the Community, or Just Hearing?

Well folks, another "This Week At Bungie" (aka TWAB) post was submitted this past Thursday, and it has seemingly caused even more community outrage than what it probably set out to resolve.

The issue at hand, once again, is sunsetting. It's a topic of conversation that has continued from the time it was announced, through the time it was implemented, and now after a few seasons of it having taken effect. In this particular case, sunsetting in relation to reissued loot.

My Response To Bungie's "Destiny 2 Dev Update - Rewards" Post

The following post is something a little different than what I have published previously on this site: a post that I made on Reddit about a video game I have spent a decent amount of time on recently, Destiny 2. I have ported it for republishing here with mostly minor changes. By the time this post was prepared, it had 716 upvotes and received numerous awards from the /r/DestinyTheGame community.

Prevent Windows 10 spying, the easy way

Windows 10 is one of the most controversial Windows releases to date, due to one major thing: privacy. However, in this tutorial, I'll show you a very easy tool that even novice users can use to help cut down on the Windows 10 tracking (telemetry, etc). I wrote this one up kinda fast, but I think that everyone can learn from this.
